We love a printed tee, so when we stumbled across Lion of Leisure, makers of gorgeously soft, thick, 100% organic cotton tees, printed by hand in biodegradable water-based, environmentally friendly inks we danced a little dance. And said yes please!
Look into them more closely and you'll discover Lion of Leisure hails from Antwerp, style capital of Belgium. You'll read how founders, UK-born Matthew Grove and, from the Netherlands, Saskia Solbergand, are inspired by kids in every print they create, as well as in their impressive green credentials. You'll see that no chemicals or pesticides are used in the growing of the cotton. And you'll see a company that really cares about quality, sustainability and all the good stuff. But it was their lovely muted shades, cool slogans and beautifully detailed monoprints that really got us reaching for the order form.
Lion of Leisure is not alone in printing by hand, but the love and attention-to-detail that goes into every print makes them really special. See, here, the lion coming to life...
And there's more... The little, lion-printed drawstring cotton bags that come with each shirt make them tip-top pressies at all ages.
As usual we struggled to choose our favourites so we had Sarah do it for us and here she is, complete with illustrated octopus and the legend 'Express Yourself'. Something of a motto at AF towers.
