In the words of Etta James, At Last. We've a new site, a new shop and some super duper new togs for kids. We're starting small but thinking bigger. Hoping you'll all like what we've got enough to shop and share the love. We've (virtual) travelled far and wide to find clobber with a heart and soul (kind to the environment, respectful to the people that make them - that kind of thing), that doesn't look worthy and that feels as good as it looks. And this is what we found. Our first collection features AF favourites: from the Netherlands, 4funkyflavours, from the UK, The Fableists, from Antwerp, Lion of Leisure and, from Copenhagen, coming soon, the lovely PopUpShop.
Here's the low down on the first of our fab four brands:
Retro '70s styling - think contrast piping, sharp collars, skinny belts, groovy prints, popping colours - meets good quality fabric, all soft and comfy and made to last. 4funkyflavours looks like it's been shot on a Kodak Instamatic, all filtering sunshine and dreamy soft focus - of such things are childhood dreams made. Our kids fell in love with the brand's strong shades and cool cuts, while we were keen on their sustainability credentials: A target to move from 60% to 100% compliance with OEKO TEX standard within the next two years. And a commitment to the highest ethical manufacturing standards.
Our favourite piece? As usual we're torn. The Get Shorter Shorts are super comfy and look gorgeous too.
The Drops Dress is one of those cool enough for summery days as well as being perfect over tights come autumn - but, most importantly, it's ridiculously comfy.
But the winner, for us, is yer Only the Horses Skirt. Lightweight woven fabric, groovy details, fab ruffle-textured waistband and retro fairground print make it the kind of skirt that our girls want to wear everywhere. We heart.
